SKY AND CLOUDS
Several years ago, I returned to Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas. They provided studio space and I could paint uninterrupted until I requested feed back from my professors, Dr. Robert Green and Dan McGregor. The painting that I did over those two semesters were to “Prepare the Way for the Lord.” Invaluable were the sessions where I sat with Robert and Dan and they, in Godly wisdom, asked the right questions. Before, I knew about prophetic art or even thought to dream of the possibility that I would or could seriously paint to glorify His name full time, I casually jotted down these words, “A show that will be called, ‘MIGHTY.’ He knew the plans He had for me. He knew that my entire being was created to praise Him and declare that He is Mighty, Gentle, Fierce and Tender; He seeks you with His Everlasting Love! Your Kingdom come Lord Jesus, on earth as it is in heaven
Later, in my own studio, I painted this painting. I worked on it for four months; I strived to try to capture on canvas my captivation with clouds and the mysteries that seemed hidden in them. I use the words worked and strived because this painting was painted before the November 2009 Healing and Impartation conference and I was painting, striving to accomplish, out of a position of lack. I did not, yet, understand my sonship of God’s Kingdom and the truth that we all operate from a place of abundant provision.
This painting received it’s name from Scott McDonald. His wife, Dee, of Surroundings Frame and Art, had just finished framing “God’s Sky,” when Scott came into Surroundings, and seeing the painting said, “that must be God’s Universe.” Surprised by Scott’s declaration, Dee was thoughtfully quiet. Later, when she inquired why he had made such a statement, he said, because that was clearly God’s Sky.
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.” Psalm 19:1-4
